The subject in this painting was of a lake with water lilies growing there along with lily pads. I also tried to make it seem as though the lily pads had a smooth, but bumpy texture. The painting has a cool color scheme because of the blue - violet flowers the gray blue water and the green lily pads. I added in the shadows of the flowers on water to create a sense of space in the painting. The water  lilies created a type of pattern because they repeated over and over a look a lot alike. I also tried to put more emphasis on the water lilies and a few of the lily pads to draw the viewer's eye to them.
